How to Make a Wikispace
  1. Search for wikispace on google and click on the link that says 'wikispaces-for educators' (or just click here)
  2. Create a user name and password and sign in. You may create a wiki on this page if you like, just enter the name you would like to use in the box. If you want to wait to create your wiki you can wait and do it after you sign in.
  3. When you create your wiki:
  • Be sure to check 'I certify that this wiki will be used for K-12 Education'. This way you will not get ads on your wiki.
  • Decide whether you want your wiki to be public, protected or private. There is an explanation about what each of these means right under the labels.
  • When it asks for 'Wiki Type' choose K-12 Education.

FAQs
There are ads on my wiki. How do I get rid of them?
  • Go to the bottom of the page and click on 'upgrade'
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and request a complementary upgrade to Plus for K-12 education. We get the Plus plan free because we are teachers. It may take a few days for the request to go through, but the ads will be gone soon.

How do I create a new page on my wiki?
  • There are a couple different ways to do this. If you want a page that will show up on the sidebar menu then just go to the top of the sidebar and click on 'New Page'. This will only work if 'list pages' is turned on. To find out if it is turned on, click on 'edit navigation' (in very small letters along the side of your wiki).

How do I create Subpages that don't show up on the side?

  • To do this you need to turn 'list pages' off. Go to 'edit navigation' and delete it. This MAY erase all of your sidebar pages but don't worry, the pages are still there! To get them back just stay in 'edit navigation' and type in double square brackets, then the name of your page, then double square brackets again. After you save the pages will come back to your sidebar.
